Outlines all security requirement fundamentals and
reveals the meanings behind the many buzzwords, jargon and acronyms
as used in the security compliance lexicon. Level 1 also introduces
security management best practices and dispels the many security
method myths.

weaknesses of applications systems.

BC Hydro is one of the largest electric utilities in Canada, serving more
than 1.7 million customers in an area containing over 94% of British
Columbia's population and operates 30 hydroelectric facilities and 3
natural gas-fuelled thermal power plants.

BC Hydro engaged Matrikon to facilitate a number of workshops and to assist
BC Hydro in outlining their critical assets and cyber assets with the goal
of outlining the effort required to comply with the NERC CIP standard.
Matrikon was selected due to the depth of knowledge of the CIP standard as
well as for their outstanding work with BCTC which is the transmission and
distribution arm of BC Hydro.

British Columbia Transmission Corporation
|

As an independent electric transmission company, British Columbia Transmission
Corporation (BCTC) is responsible for the planning, management and operation of
BC Hydro's transmission assets, which include 18,000 kilometres of high-voltage
wires.

BCTC engaged Matrikon to facilitate a workshop and to assist with a scoping exercise
designed to 'filter' all of BCTC's assets through the NERC CIP 002 standard to
determine scope for their compliance efforts. Matrikon and BCTC worked together to
develop a comprehensive project plan, capital budgetary estimates, and a step-by-step
workflow for proceeding with the implementation of their compliance efforts.
